In 2020, why are men still the primary builders and architects of the internet? What are the barriers facing women when it comes to shaping and creating our digital experiences? In this episode, Internet diversity advocate, Tammy Bryant shares her story, trials and tribulations on her journey toward making the internet a more diverse, inclusive and equitable place.
Tammy is the co-founder of Girl Geek Academy - an organisation focused on empowering girls and women to play more active and leading roles in tech. Their target is to get 1 million women and girls creating startups and building apps by 2025!
Tammy is also a Principal Site Reliability Engineer for Gremlin - a company specialising in chaos engineering. A new approach to making technical systems more resilient through experimentation and intentional destruction, in order to minimise potential incidents and downtime before they occur.

In this episode we dive deep into the importance of being conscious and deliberate about designing the internet and the digital spaces in which we are spending more and more time.
We discuss the barriers that continue to prevent women from taking leading roles in the construction of our digital world. Tammy highlights the importance of humour, experimenting and role-modelling to create a visible and viable culture of support.
